Where the wild things are...Kids have never looked cooler than at H&M. Take girls up to the age of eight: they could be dressed in the gorgeous funky cardigan in black, pink, peacock blue and cream - as pictured - worn with a black, waterfall-neck tunic over pop-bright turquoise leggings and black baseball sneakers. The style is called ‘folklore romantic', (featured in the 9-14 age group too) - typically, a dress or blouse, teamed with leggings or jeans and a knit worn over the top. A parka or lumberjack coat is added for outdoors, and the look is completed with accessories, such as a scarf or shawl, a hat, a belt, a bag, knitted tights and boots. "This type of fashion inspired by nature is perfect for children - it's cool, comfortable and classic at the same time as being slightly eccentric and individual. Layering is an especially good idea as temperatures start to fall. The extra layer to provide protection against the cold and the rain is just as easy to take off as it is to put on," says H&M Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson. The little girl's male counterpart can be kitted out in baggy jeans with roll-up bottoms worn with a granddad cardigan over an unbuttoned graphic print shirt and logo-ed T-shirt. A felt trilby and leather builder boots with contrast laces complete the cool dude pose! The checked shirt is a key item together with T-shirts and jeans, as is the lumberjack coat with faux fur collar, or one made of sweatshirt material is the outerwear in focus, with accessories including scarves, braces and trainers. Even in street-style, you can see the wilderness has provided the H&M design team with inspiration. Colours range from pale grey to beige, from chlorophyll green and peacock blue to berry red.   NB: Images show current ranges. ‘Fresh and hip, H&M kids fashion always sets the trend among pre-teens. The designers understand that kids want to look cool and mums want their offspring to look adorable. This autumn's street-style thrills us."
