Gap are brilliant at providing a comprehensive range within their mini-collections - the signature look, the layers, the add-ons and accessories. In the late 1990s, Gap did their famous ‘Khaki Soul'. Youtube still bears witness to its influence. This season, Gap makes khaki cool again this season.

Achingly cool khaki.
Consider khaki as a fashion trend and it's all too easy to think of a fabric that is American preppy, utilitarian or military combat.
Check out GAP Khaki 2009, however, and you find a collection of classic pieces embellished with insouciant, sexy designer twists. Yup, khaki acquires attitude!
Gap khaki jeans and trousers are stylish and comfortable, but also lend the wearer an air of sussed edginess. It's an easy, androgynous style: the "art of slop chic" fashionistas call it. The beauty lies in the simplicity. Men and women can add a simple vest or T-shirt or crisp shirt - best in white or cream - plus casual jacket or scarf, groovy belt and neutral-toned canvas sneakers, and you have a look that takes you from the campus to the design studio to a pavement bistro in an elegant flash.
Khaki is an alternative to denim, in the sense that women can dress it up sweet or cute, while men can preppify it minimally. Or you can also ‘play' with the look and the tone. Look out for jeans, trousers, skirts, dresses and shirts...Gap khaki is the new canvas for casual fashion fun.
As store supervisor Ricardo says: "Our Khaki range is flying out of the store because, with its slenderfit cut and two colour choices, it's a great, late summer casual look."
