Gap Men Print E-mail

Gap classics are essential this season with a crisp, clean and uncluttered simplicity based around a mainly monochrome palette - black, white and grey, but mixed with rich blues, green and burgundy hues and the occasional pop of bright fuchsia. The silhouette is slim, but without being restrictive and with a cool, more slouchy layered look on top.

Traditional styles have a contemporary twist and fabrics are high grade from cashmere to pure merino wool and fine cotton, so it is easy to dress up simple styles should the occasion arise. We go weak at the knees for a blazer, especially when worn over a shirt and fine knit cardigan or with photo-print tees and jeans for integral urban style.

Key autumn look? The navy wool pea coat worn with a woven scarf.

Western blanket stripes, denim and plaid checked shirts give a distinctive Americana feel to casual styles this autumn, mixed with military inspired outerwear for an individual look. Gap's M65 jacket is key in both leather and heavy cotton twill, worn with hand painted graphics in warm neutral tones, sand and military green highlighted with bright turquoise and orange.

Textures are soft and time-worn - denim is stone-bleached for an authentic 1980s feel, cargo pants are worn in without being distressed and sweats are heavily laundered and trimmed with leather to add modern detail to a Gap classic.

Accessorise with functional canvas messengers, duffles and kit bags or leather satchels, slubby wool knitted scarves and vintage leather belts.

Store manager Zuzanna Garbocz nominates her favourite items:

Gap's leather jackets are the best because of the quality, and I love our black version. I also love the grey checked shirt and slim-cut dark denim jeans from this collection.
