COMING SOON...Cha Cha Moon

Bamboozled By Noodles

Cha Cha Moon.jpgThe first Cha Cha Moon opened earlier this year in Ganton Street, W1, to a rave review from Fay Maschler. "How to eat out in a credit crunch? Slurp a bowl of roast duck noodle for £3.50," she wrote triumphantly.

We are thrilled to announce that Alan Yau's latest Chinese food venture is set to open in Whiteleys.

As a noodle bar, Cha Cha Moon goes beyond the iconic popular dishes we associate with Chinese food. The long menu is pan-territorial and expresses the soul of regional China. Old favourites such as Singapore Fried Noodle and Szechuan wonton combine with little-known classics, like Wok-fried Cod and bitter melon with black beans and glass vermicelli.

37a_14_Cha-Cha-Mo_243x201.jpgDivided into Soup Noodle, Cold Noodle, Wok and Sides, each dish will cost £3.50 (less than the price of a Tube ticket) and will be cooked visibly, behind a glass kitchen wall, where high-powered woks, state-of-the-art noodle boilers, fryers and duck driers artfully deliver each of the perfectionist Yau's dishes.

The design ethos of Cha Cha Moon is an evolution of what was originally established for wagamama - which Yau originally created - as a quintessential fast casual noodle bar. The executive architect is Kengo Kuma and the design of the Whiteleys restaurant utilizes a palate of clear glass, bamboo and stainless steel.

p47restaurant_29892t.jpgVisually, it is stunning. Linear bamboo tables with black architecturally designed steel benches are adjacent to the bar on one side and the kitchen on the other.  Undulating bamboo covers the ceiling, extending outside the restaurant.

With mirrors on either ends of the bar and kitchen, an infinity effect of bamboo is created across the restaurant.  Lighting designed by Firefly further enhances the light effects of the bamboo and architectural lines.
