In shades of aqua, turquoise, blue and green mixed with neutral browns and pops of orange and gold, GapKids boys’ summer collection is rooted in the sea and sand. Drawing influence from classic surf-inspired pieces like the tropical board short and graphic print hoodie, our highlights include classic pocket tees in solid brights and stripes, patchwork checked long shorts and super-cool aviator style shades and classic bucket hat.
Another key trend for Gap boys this summer is safari with khaki pocket-front jackets, linen shirts in neutral shades, and palm printed shirts and shorts. For high summer, Gap offers a one-stop swim shop with over 10 different styles of trunks and board shorts as well as wet-suit style short and tops, and graphic print tees in acid brights. In denim, the focus is still on classic styles with colours ranging all the way through from medium to dark with accents of novelty yarn-dye textures.
For summer the range is updated with carpenter shorts in summer washes as well as a lightweight denim cargo short style. On summer evenings away from the beach, Gap offers boys a great collection called ‘Indigo Seas’. A premium collection inspired by Indonesian tile prints, in shades of blues, indigos, white and navy; it includes striped woven embroidered shirts, tile block print shirts, selvage jeans and super-soft worn-in tees.
Girls: This summer, the GapKids girl is an island-hopping glamour girl who is ready for the beach, the boat or a stroll through the town. Big sixties floral prints in bright sherbet shades are mixed and matched with striped jersey pieces and embroidered sundresses.
Bold printed shorts are mixed with baby-doll shaped easy-tees in shades of yellow, aqua blue, leaf green and neutrals. Highlights include floral printed maxi sundresses, metallic strappy sandals, embroidered poplin roll-up pants and matching beach bags. For girls this summer it’s all about the short. Gap offers an array for all holiday occasions from the Bermuda beach short, floral print mini short and classic denim roll-up style.
Gap girls swim-shop includes great patterned bikinis and one-pieces with a 60’s surf vibe, as well as boyish board shorts, and terry towelling cover-up’s perfect for the beach. Mix and match with colourful flip-flops and contrasting beach totes. In denim, indigo and white shades are key, worn in mini skirt and short styles and also in Capri length.
"I think our summer collection is such a mums’ magnet because of the strong colour palette!” says George, GapKids store manager. “Toddler boys & girls have polos and summer brights as a main theme, while newborn is safari-inspired with a fantastic combination of colors and animals. Infant is influenced by jungle adventure. The impact in the older kids collection comes mainly from shorts! What a cool garment. Swimwear is combined with lots of layering summer pieces to emphasize the holiday season."
