Wisteria Lane whimsy...With their loose-fit shirt dresses, gypsy tops and trim puff-sleeved blouses, French Connection is a treasure-trove of Seventies-inspired romantic pieces. Take a look at the images and the words ‘eclectic' and ‘kitsch' come to mind. They call it a dressing-up box of yesteryear - and there is something very appealing about ditsy floral dresses, grown-up tea party prints and paneled prom gowns. Younger shoppers can't get their hands onto the silver-piped T-shirts and oversized boyfriend vests fast enough! If, like us, your office wardrobe relies on French Connection tailored jackets and trousers, wait till you see this season's new high waist trousers and shorts, held together by fitted waistcoats. They're smart and really flattering. We know people who make a pilgrimage to French Connection just for the stylish outerwear. This season it's cool - quite unstructured with sleeve detailing, exposed zips and exaggerated drawstring hoods. We love the edgy new denim range which includes frill front shirts, flirty dresses, sun-bleached jackets and dungarees with detachable braces. Jeans are wide leg, high waisted and super skinny. Fashion note: Coloured denim is here to stay. Make a statement in red, lawn green or blue! For Men, the look is laundered (phew!) and layered. Cool with a capital C in other words. Formal elements like blazer jackets are finished with an unruly edge. Out goes traditional lining and tailored methods. In come roll-up light jeans, drawstring cargos, oversize cardigans and citrus colours. Technical sportswear is a strong look with cagoule-inspired styles and cropped bomber jacket shapes. Manager Nadine McLaren has been eyeing up her stock.
